because the pain of staying the same finally exceeded the pain of change

I downloaded and installed WordPress for the new site.

Total elapsed time: about 30 minutes

Amount of that time which was spent downloading/uploading files: 22 minutes

Total time to install and get site up and running (albeit with fairly generic template): 8 minutes

Total time spent wondering why I didn't do this AGES ago: every minute since then

Why I finally got around to doing it now: see title. ;)

I'll provide a link to the new site once I've got everything imported. Things will look funky for a little while, since deleting stuff over here will affect stuff over there, categories need to be rebuilt, and links will get broken. Hair will be torn out, software will be blamed. You know, the usual story.
