She's home...
...and she's perfect.
The fit went really quickly, and he kind of talked his way through it...I think so I would have a better understanding of why he was making the adjustments he was making. My saddle's further forward on its rails for this bike than on the Pilot, which was to be expected considering the difference in seatpost angle. The hoods feel more comfortable than the old ones...not sure if it's because they're wider, or because they're newer, or because the fit's better, or just because I have an active imagination and want to believe that everything on this bike is superior to anything on any bike I've owned, ever. :)
Even the check-writing (or debit card-swiping, as the case may be) wasn't all that painful, since the build came in a couple hundred under what I had budgeted. Woo!
So, despite stressing out over minor things here and there, it's been a very positive experience. If I had known then what I know now, I would have bought that Cannondale two years ago.
Now, on to the most important part of getting a new bike--naming her. And for this, I need your help.
See, when I bought the frame, I had mostly decided on Keiko. Because, you know, there are only a couple really famous Orca whale names, and Shamu has heftiness connotations that didn't seem appropriate for a bike which weighs less than my cat. Plus, according to my sources, Keiko is Japanese for "adored one". And in case you haven't noticed from the dozens of times I've mentioned the bike on this site in the past 6 months, that's not so far from the truth.
Then, as I was sitting around bikeless this week, I got to thinking that since she's a Spanish bike, she should maybe have a Spanish name...Basque, perhaps? So I started googling, and ran across Amaya. It might be cool to name my bike after a mountain in its place of origin, right? (According to other sites, it also means "night rain" in Japanese, which--eh. Again with the Japanese! Though with that blue and black color scheme...)
Anyway, I've puzzled over this for at least 30 minutes, and I can't really decide one way or the other. I was just going to flip a coin, but then I remembered that I have this site. The internet got me into this mess, so surely it can get me out. :) Let the audience decide! You've seen the bike, you've seen the choices--does she look more like a Keiko or an Amaya? Poll after the jump.
