and speaking of music...

...did you know that OK Go has a treadmill workout album (iTunes link)? And that it is completely awesome?

I tried it for the first time at the gym last night, and enjoyed every minute. The interval workout was designed by a professional trainer, and the OK Go guy's coaching is excellent--cues and encouragement in all the right places. He makes a lot of references to that treadmill dancing video they did, so some things may be lost on you if you haven't seen it...but who hasn't, by now?

The 30-minute continuous mix with the coaching voiceover is an album-only track, so you have to buy the entire thing to get it. It's totally worth the $15 all by itself, though, so getting the full versions of all the songs besides is just gravy. Go check it out!

This sounds interesting! One question for you - does the workout require running, or is it all walking? I listened to the preview on iTunes and I noticed it mentioned setting a speed and incline, so just wondering how high the speed goes. I know of course that I could just ignore those prompts, but I would like to do the workout as designed.

it assumes you will be running, but doesn't demand it. The only speed he suggests is 3 mph in the warmup. Then some intervals are "as fast as you can" and others at your "base pace". When I did it, I walked the slow intervals at 3.3 mph and jogged the fast ones at 3.8-4.5 mph.

One of the reviews mentioned that s/he did it on the elliptical, which I think is a great idea too, especially if your knees give you trouble when you run (like mine, still).
