I just ordered one of these. My mini (though still working fine)is out of warranty, and my warranty-replaced* Shuffle died about a month ago. I've been considering the Nano to replace them both, but have held off because I couldn't decide between black and white. Really, I wasn't crazy about either version.

When I got the announcement email from the Apple store about the new generation Nano, it was like they had been reading my mind. Small like a Nano, looks/feels like a mini? They may as well have named it the iPod Joy. :) Really, how could I resist?

Hopefully, she'll be here sometime next week.

*after an unfortunate gym bag/water bottle-drowning incident--our other two Shuffles are still going strong.

my hub's shuffle went through 3 replacements until he learned to not tuck it into his shorts while on the elliptical. Mine keeps stopping on me for no discernible reason after about 3 hours, so it's not the battery. I've got my eye on the next-generation shuffles. Or the Nano, now that they're less than $150.

you know...I think my 2nd shuffle met its end the same way as your husband's. I didn't tuck it in my shorts, but I did put it inside my shirt when I wore it on the bike. It also had this weird quirk where it would always quit working right after a specific song (All Will Be Well, Gabe Dixon Band). At first, I thought it was the battery dying, but it happened when it was fully charged, too. I finally decided that the song was encoded with a Shuffle Death Note. :)

The new shuffles are pretty cool looking...I ordered one for Rob, and almost ordered that one for me (instead of the Nano), but they don't ship until October. I wanted mine NOW.

One thing that peeves me about the new Nanos, though...the 4GB is the only one that offers a color choice. The 2GB is only silver, and the 8GB is only black--and that's the one that really chaps me. For $50 more, I could have doubled my drive space, if only I could live with a black ipod. Like with the whole bike shopping saga, though, color is a dealbreaker for me. So, in other words, Apple sure saw ME coming.

Oh, and Lucy shipped two days ago. I've been stalking FedEx.com ever since...she passed through Indianapolis this morning.
