a survey

I didn't bring a lunch today, because the office caterer is serving barbecue sandwiches, and I like those. The whole meal looks like this:

BBQ chopped beef on bun
potato chips
baked beans
cookie

Very school lunch, I know. :) But they do make it well, sell it cheap, and offer unlimited pickles.

My question, though, is about my chip and bean eating methods. You see, the meal comes with a fork, but I don't like to use it. I use my potato chips to scoop up the beans like a dip.

So, nutritional values and calorie counts completely aside, is this gross? Not something a 31-year-old woman should be doing in public*? What's your take on it?

*Though, for the record, I'm alone in my office...I'm just feeling a little self-conscious all of a sudden. And not just because I dropped a chipful of beans on the floor just now.

Do it. No need to be self-conscious. It isn't like my son who used to dip his chips in the jam from his pb&j. Blech.

She sounds dreadful, but just so you know, strawberries are one of the fruits that have the most pesticide residue -- best to select organic strawberries if you can.

That's interesting...I guess I don't really think about pesticides on my fruits, since I rinse them all pretty thoroughly before eating. Still, I imagine I've eaten enough pesticides in my lifetime that I'll be growing a third eye by the time I'm 60. ;) Not that eating pesticides is a good thing, and organics are better where that's concerned, definitely.

Reminds me of the one factoid I remember from Girl Scouts (other than several dozen earworm campfire songs)--the average person eats a cup of dirt a day. Or maybe it was the average kid...and probably moreso at girl scout camp. Or maybe they just told us that to get us to eat the eggs they cooked over the campfire. Ew. :)
