*yawn*

So tired. So, so tired.

Since I'm waiting for my parts order to come in today, my car is still at the mechanic. I had to catch a ride with The Giant* who works with me and lives just down the street, but he starts his workday at the ass-crack of dawn. He picked me up at 5:23 am. Five twenty-three. He normally goes even earlier than that, but was cutting me a break because he knows that's still at least a good hour before I wake up on the average day.

So anyway, I'm here at work, mostly trying not to fall asleep in my chair. I expect the coffee will kick in any minute now, and I can start being truly productive. Until then, I do this. :)

I haven't felt like posting for the last couple days, but a lot has happened. I ate a lot this weekend, and was queen of the grazers yesterday. Today I unintentionally had a 22-point breakfast, so am going to be feasting on salad for the rest of the day. Oops.

I joined 24-hour fitness on Friday, and have gone every day except Sunday. I had one of those complimentary personal training sessions, measured my body fat and broke out the tape measure. My body fat was between 30 and 35%, which is about what I expected. She did a 4-position (?) caliper test, which put me at 33.5%, but she said that a 7-position test would have put me 3-4% lower than that. Only one of the measurements the trainer did matched the ones that I did, and those that didn't were all bigger. My thighs were bigger by a full four inches--each. In my defense, she measured much higher on the leg than I did. Five inches down from the hip is apparently the standard measuring place, and I thought it was 5" up from the knee. Ah well, live and learn, and adjust my measurements on the sidebar when I have time.

I really liked the personal trainer that I worked with...she was young and athletic (as personal trainers generally are), and seemed to know what she was talking about in the way of nutrition and how muscles work. She was appropriately congratulatory about my weight loss, but she wasn't all rah-rah about it. We had about 10 minutes to do a quick workout after all the measuring and orientation, so I asked for some simple ab workouts that wouldn't require much core strength or any coordination. She showed me a series I could do on the ab bench with the arm bars (I believe that's the technical term for it :-P), and worked on form with me. When I told her that I really couldn't afford a personal trainer right now, she mentioned that she had a client who was looking for someone to train with her and split the cost of her remaining sessions. I have her card if I decide to try that, which I might. It's a good deal, but I'm just not sure I can justify the $75 when I'm about to drop an unplanned $300 to fix my car. And I just ordered that ipod and paid the enrollment fees for the club membership, which pretty much clears out my leisure budget for this month. So as much as I'd like to do it, personal training's probably going to wait until I'm more financially secure again. I am going to use her ab workout regularly, though.

I also tried swimming laps this weekend, which didn't work out very well for me. My hair got in the way of my breathing, and swimming is freaking hard. Four lengths (25m pool) and I was spent. And only two of those were without stopping. I suck. My tentative plan for the swimming is to do one lap 2-3 times a week, until I can actually do one lap without feeling like I'm going to pass out. Then I'll try for 1 1/2 laps, etc. I figure I can get to 8 laps by April that way...maybe.

I'm renewing my love affair with the precor elliptical machine, and I'm finding that the gym treadmills are easier to run on than the old treadmills in the work fitness center. The treadmills I've been using at the gym (Precor C954) count time down instead of up though, so it was hard at first to get the intervals right in my head. I'm pleased to say that I am now able to run 3 minutes at a time with relative ease (so long as I can walk for 3 minutes afterward, that is). According to the display, I did 2.45 miles in 35 minutes yesterday. My bones/knees hurt a little today, but the more I move the better I feel.

I'm also pleased to say that I worked out 6 of the 7 days last week, and plan to do the same this week. I'm going to lose these last 45 lbs. if it kills me.

What on earth did you eat for 22 points for breaky if I may ask? I almost fell out of my chair when I read that, lol.

As for the gym going - yay you! Congrats on getting out and about and just doing it.

Swimming - it will come! Just take your time :)

Congrats Joy!

well, see...I didn't mean to. :)

I ate a pria bar at 6:15 or so, and then The Giant called me and asked me to take his truck to get breakfast at the Kolache Factory for him since he couldn't leave his desk right then. He requested two polish sausage kolaches and a chocolate milk. His smelled good, so I got one for myself, and a cream cheese one. Then I ate the polish one while driving to Starbucks for a latte on the way back.

Once back at my desk, I looked up the points for the polish, and it was 13 points! (I totally should have seen that coming, but hey.) Add that to the pria (2), latte (3), and what the hell--I went ahead and ate the cream cheese kolache too(4). 22 points. :)

Blame the giant.
