I think I want to jog today. I have to wait about another half an hour before I can go out there and do it, though, because there's a soccer game going on out there. Whether it's true or not (and it's not), I always think that anyone who may be within pointing and laughing distance of me when I do something new will actually point and laugh. So for my own peace of mind, I need to go out to the track when everyone is generally hunched over their desks in a lunch-induced coma. The only people that will be able to laugh at me, huffing and puffing my way through a 1/4 mile, are those looking out the windows. Get back to work, ya slackers!
Other than the whole fear of ridicule thing, the other reason I have to psych myself up for this is that I was sore for 4 days the last time I attempted to jog. Also, it's a mite chilly out there right now...54 degrees with a wind. I like outside exercise when it's a bit cool, but the wind is going to suck.
I'm going to do it anyway...my plan is to stay out on the track for around 30 minutes. A lap is a 1/2 mile, so I'm thinking this is what I'll do:
jog 1/4 mile
walk 1/2 mile
jog 1/4 mile
walk 1/2 mile
jog 1/4 mile
walk 1/4 mile
This will bring me around the track 4 times (according to my double-and-triple checked crude drawings), jogging a 3/4 mile, and walking 1 1/4. I'm hoping to do it in about 30-35 minutes.
Ooh! The soccer game's over...time to go!
Wow that must be a huge track?? I remember the track at my HS... each lap was a quarter mile, so you only had to go around the track 4 times for a mile. I always thought that tracks were pretty standard, but then what do I know... LOL.

nah, not standard...not even an oval.
It winds around the grounds, through trees and stuff. The little signs say it's a half-mile, and experience tells me that's probably pretty close (it takes me between 35 and 40 minutes to walk 4 laps, usually). I'll have to take a picture sometime.
I didn't end up jogging much at all today...I got about 30 seconds in before my left knee started having serious issues. I walked the rest of the 4 laps and finished in about 30 minutes. Faster than I normally walk, though...:)
