d'oh!

I really meant to stick with the plan yesterday. I woke up, saw the holding-steady weigh-in, and thought to myself, "I'm really in the mood for a big-ass loss right now." So I told myself that I was going to be good all this week. Then Rob called me while I was on the way to work and said that he needed me to come and drive him to the hospital.

It was nothing serious, not even an emergency, really. He has had a growing pain for a couple weeks, and yesterday morning it was bad enough he couldn't drive. Four or five ER hours later, it was diagnosed as a minor, common, but painful problem, and we were sent home with painkillers and instructions to see a surgeon.

However, after eating only a bowl of cereal for breakfast and sitting in the ER an hour past my normal lunchtime, I was absolutely ravenous by the time we ate lunch. It was also raining, so I didn't want to go anywhere, and Rob didn't have anything at his house. So we ordered delivery from the new mom-n-pop pizza place down the street. We hadn't tried their sandwiches & pasta yet, so we ordered that. Not bad...not the best ever, but not bad. Needless to say, not low calorie. At all.

The rest of the day was spent hanging out at Rob's house for moral support, as he called his doctor and his insurance company. Then I went home and made Noah mac & cheese, to really round out my nutrition for the day. :)

And of course, I haven't gotten any exercise in this week at all. Yeah, it's only been one day, but I'm not likely to get any tonight either, since I have to go to Rob's again tonight and pack up stuff for the clothing donation people to pick up tomorrow morning. It'll be nice to get rid of all Noah's too-small clothes, and my too-big ones. Rob's closets and dressers can use some serious weeding, too. All preparation for the big household consolidation in April. Turning two overly-cluttered households into one is going to be a nightmare of epic proportions. Best to start getting rid of shit now. And then call in the Fab 5. I bet Thom could do wonders. :)

Speaking of home improvement, the Houston House Beautiful show is this weekend, and Vern Yip from Trading Spaces is there this year. Once Kat heard that, we were SOO going. He's her favorite designer (I'm a Laurie fan, myself, but Vern's a close second). It also so happens that we were going to a bridal show in the Reliant complex on Saturday anyway, so we can check out both. Parking is going to be absolutely insane, so I don't know what we're going to do about that. Probably get there early and park on Kirby somewhere. I just hope there's no construction down there, or I may have to kill someone. At least Kat will be doing the driving.

So yeah...that's all I have today. Time to get back to work.

hi. i stumbled upon your website while searching for some workout information.
I read a bit of your journal and I don't know why I'm writing this, but if you want to lose weight please stop eating candy and desserts and fried food and pizza.I'm not trying to be mean, but I know you want to see results, and you have lost some, but if you try to eat low fat foods and lots of fruit, vegetables, and water, than you will see results. Congratulations on signing up for the biking and the walking marathon.
