I need to do both

I'm happy with the way things have been going lately. My workout partner, Jarrod, built out part of his garage and put in a home gym, so we've been lifting there before work. It means getting up at 5 and being at his house at 6 to lift before going to work, but it lets us workout alone and should free up lunchtime for cardio.

This week, I haven't done any cardio. Things have come up at lunch, and I've used having them open to get those things done. I need to stay more focused, and make sure I do my cardio. I'm glad the lifting is going well, although we are starting back in slowly since we haven't lifted hard in a while, but I need to make sure both cardio and weight training get done regularly. I tend to let one slip if the other is going well. That has to stop. I need to get my trainer set up at home, so I can ride in the evening on days that I don't run. I just can't decide where to put it. Maybe I can get Joy to help me arrange the living room this weekend, and get it set up.

My logs are going to start getting more detailed soon. I'm going to start including calorie counts with my meals as much as possible. I'm going start putting in reps and weights in the exercise log instead of just listing the body part. I need to start timing runs as well, so I can track progress on that front. I'm not terribly concerned with strength right now and I don't really care about running fast either, but I do need to see that I'm going in the right direction so those things need to be tracked. Right now we are lifting really low weights while we work back into lifting, and focusing on perfect form, and slow reps. The one weakness to the home gym is it's small, and it's not as easy to get in the perfect spotting position, so we may never be able to go as heavy as we did in the gym. That's really not important though. I am going to weigh every Saturday morning or maybe ever other Saturday. My workout and diet logs will start to run Saturday-Friday so I can keep a weekly calorie total. It's time to turn up the intensity and really focus on the diet.
